#9 Mais Cher, It's the Soup AND the burgers at the Chimes

The Chimes is a hands-down no brainer for beer and burgers. as well as corn and shrimp soup, and other cajun favorites, like the too-tough-to-cook-at-home crawfish etoufee. If you were my guest in Baton Rouge, and wanted to know a great place to eat a local meal, I would drive you to the LSU Campus on Highland Road and stop in at the Chimes Restaurant on the corner of Highland Road and Chimes Street, at the north gates of campus. http://www.thechimes.com/

The restaurant has been one of the most popular in town for casual seafood and po-boys since the 1980s. My seafood gumbo had a crab claw rising out of the roux, and I highly recommend it (the claw and the gumbo)! A bowl was just $7.95. I added a side of bread. If you were my guest, and didn't want the seafood gumbo, I'd be very comfortable recommending the shrimp and corn soup from the Chimes. It is to die for...

If you aren't driving, you might enjoy the selection of 100 beers from around the world....the Sunday morning brunch has 'em in line at 11 a.m...another event not to miss. The Chimes on Urbanspoon
